Two holes-in-one at Brookstone
DERRY — It was quite a day at Brookstone Golf Course May 1 when two golfers made holes-in-one.
The first was Mark Kissel of Hampstead — and it was a first for him, too. He used a lob wedge on the 84-yard eighth hole. The ace was witnessed by Kissel's playing partner, Julie Deshaies of Methuen.
The second also was on the eighth hole, this time by David Whitehead of Standish, Maine. He used a 9 iron for his first career hole-in-one.
Whitehead's witness was wife Cindi Whitehead.
Wrestling Rebels do well at Eastern Nationals
DERRY — Three wrestlers from Derry's Wrestling Rebels spent the latter part of their spring vacations traveling to western New York to compete in the Gene Mills Eastern National Wrestling Tournament.
All three wrestlers qualified for the tournament by placing in the top four of their respective weight classes at The Rebel New England Classic, held March 21 at Pinkerton Academy.
Seamus Dolan led the way as he brought home a medal by placing sixth in the tournament. This win for Seamus makes him an All American wrestler.
Drew Chase and Dylan Barreiro each went 1-2 at the tournament.
