Pinkerton Academy sent six wrestlers to the New England High School Wrestling Tournament in New Haven Connecticut.

The two-day tournament began on Friday evening with 308 wrestlers from 163 different schools vying for a New England championship.

Pinkerton had a great evening as five wrestlers advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship round. Three wrestlers moved on to the semifinals and one Astro wrestler made it to the finals.

Corey Beck was the highest Pinkerton finisher; he finished second at 171 pounds. Beck lost to Nick Lawrence of Timberlane by a score of 3-2.

David Owens battled his way back to a third-place finish after losing in the semifinals.

Dominic Farrar was the third Astro to place, finishing sixth.

Having three wrestlers place at the New England Tournament is the best showing ever by Pinkerton.

As a team, Pinkerton scored 62 points and finished in fifth place. Alex Gerhold, Daniel Barker and Zach Daigle all wrestled well in representing the Astros at the tournament.
