The Londonderry Fields Association (LAFA) Under 10 Softball team was the big winner of a recent state tournament and earned the right to play in this year’s Babe Ruth World Series in Treasure Coast, Florida in August.
There were 25 teams in three different age groups participating in the state tournament, which was held in Londonderry, and the local team won each one of its seven games, outscoring their opponents 74-7. In the Pool Play, Londonderry’s team enjoyed three straight no-hitters by their pitchers.
This was the third time in the fifteen-year history of the qualifying tournament that a team from Londonderry has won the championship, and if they were able to travel to Florida, it would be for the second time.
The team is now looking for donations that will make this trip a reality and opened a GoFundMe page. The cost of the trip is approximately $20,000.
The team’s roster includes: Caileigh Aguiar, Vivien Belanger, Addison Browning, Regan Burns, Riley Campo, Shannon Crowley, Makenzie Daneau, Elisabeth Kearney, Emma Saucier and Annie Williams. The head coach is Mike Saucier and his assistants are Mike Campo, Tara Crowley and Catherine Kearney.
