UNH MIDDLE DISTANCE

Two local middle distance runners had standout performances for UNH at the America East indoor championships. Derry’s Sam Lanternier and Windham’s Spenser Sawyer were on the 4x800 relay team that finished second in 7:38.50, and Lanternier and Sawyer came in 4th and 6th in the 1,000 meters.

 

WARRIOR SIGNS

Merrimack College’s Griff Jeszka has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Worcester Railers of the ECHL. Jeszka scored two goals in 25 games for the Warriors this winter.

The Railers also feature former Pinkerton Academy star JD Dudek. He had two goals and 10 assists in 27 games before suffering a back injury in December. He is hoping to return to the ice soon.

 

BAKER MILESTONE

Last Sunday, 6-4 junior guard Geo Baker of Derry became the 44th Rutgers men’s player to eclipse 1,000 career points. He also dished out six assists to give him 300, 15th all-time for the Scarlet Knights.
