Local Roundup: Pinkerton’s Cross wins final home meet

In her last home meet of her career, Pinkerton senior Meghan Cross finished first in 19:44 for 3.1 miles to pace the Astros to an tri-meet win over Salem and Dover last Tuesday. Silvia Caddell finished second for Salem.


Manchester, O’Hare net two

Livi Manchester and Maddie O’Hare each scored two goals and the Windham defense didn’t allow a shot in a 4-0 field hockey win over Manchester Central last Thursday. 


Lancers hold on

Trailing 1-0 to a surging Bedford team, Londonderry field hockey got goals from Courtney Shay and Jenna Madigan and held on for the 2-1 win last Wednesday. The Lancers followed that up with a win over Keene later in the week to improve to 9-2.


Balanced attack

The Windham volleyball team was very balanced offensively during its 3-1 win over Concord last Wednesday. Kayla Stevens (10 kills), Cassie Faria (9 kills) and Arielle Nysten (8 kills) were all forces on the front line.


Astros nearly knock off unbeaten

Ella Dandrade’s 13th and final kill of the match gave undefeated Pinkerton a 15-14 lead over fellow unbeaten Nashua South in the fifth and decisive game last Wednesday. But South rebounded to get the next three points to win the set, 17-15, and clinch the 3-2 match win.


Stowell nets trick

Olivia Stowell’s dominant fall continued for the Londonderry girls soccer team. The senior striker scored three goals in Friday’s 7-0 rout of Goffstown. After another undefeated week, the Lancers (11-0) don’t look to be showing signs of slowing down.


Astro marathon

Pinkerton crashed Salem’s Homecoming party on Friday with a marathon 3-2 win: 20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13. Ella Dandrade led the 10-1 Astros with 16 kills and 33 digs and Ellie Cashman added 19 service points. For 8-3 Salem, Katya Rojco had 8 blocks.


Picciano scores

Sophomore Dom Picciano scored his first career goal and Windham scored all three of its goals in the second half of a 3-0 win over Portsmouth on Friday.


Astros in double OT

The Pinkerton girls soccer team trailed by a goal at halftime, but fought back to send its game against Salem to overtime before winning, 2-1, in the second extral frame on Saturday. Mattie Sullivan and Macy Graves were the two Astro goal scorers.
