Pinkerton came in seventh in the 78-team field at the George Bossi Lowell Holiday wrestling tournament.
Kyle Setzer was the most impressive of three medal-round winners for Pinkerton. The 195-pound senior, after losing his first match in the tourney, won seven straight times to claim third place, defeating Masconomet’s Joey Perkins 4-2 in the consolation finals.
Also for the Astros, Robbie Fahey won his last match 10-2 to take fifth at 220 and Tyler MacKiernan grabbed fifth at 152. David Hammond came in eighth at 132.
3-pointers not enough
Madison Mahoney drilled six 3-pointers and poured in 26 points and Brooke Kane hit a pair of trifectas and had 22 points, but Pinkerton fell short of Cathedral, 71-59, in the Lady Blue Devil Holiday Classic last Wednesday.
Junior Conor Seleny ouleaned teammate Adam Spencer to win the 55 hurdles for the first time, had a season-best time to take second in the 300 and ran a super last leg to lead his team to first in the 4x400 relay to pace Pinkerton’s boys to first in a nine-team meet at UNH on Saturday. Sophomore Patrick Cotnoir also had a big day, winning the 55 dash and placing in the 300 and long jump.
Jags win again
Sam Adamson (13), Sarah Dempsey (7) and Livi Tsetsilas (7) led the way as Windham defeated upset-minded Dover, 42-36 on Sunday. The Jags are now 6-1 overall with the holiday tourney win.
