Salem swept Pinkerton, 25-15, 25-18, 25-19. The Astros (8-0) were led by Amanda Saab (14 kills), Lauren Delaney (29 assists), Danielle Stoodley and Becca Weiss (both had team-high 23 digs). Mai-Linh Dao (12 digs, 8 service points) and Braelan O'Toole (8 kills, 4 blocks) had solid games for the Blue Devils (7-2).
Pinkerton (8-1) came back with a shut out win over Yarmouth (ME) 3-0 (21-16, 21-17, 21-12). Tim Oleson had 18 service points and 12 assists while Tony Santa Fe had four digs.
Salem blanked Pinkerton, 25-19, 25-16, 25-17. The Blue Devils (9-0) were led by Dan Kinney (21 kills, 7 blocks), Tim Briggs (29 assists) and Josh Klecan (12 service points, 7 digs). Pat Curry (12 service points, 8 kills) and Ben Accardo (5 kills) were bright spots for the Astros.
Pinkerton followed that loss by dominating Mascenic, 25-13, 26-24, 25-218. The Astros (4-5) were led by Ben Accardo (19 kills), Andrew Stefanelli (4 blocks) and Joon-Ho Lee (5 aces).
Carolyn Malloy scored with two minutes left to lead Salem to a thrilling 1-0 win over archrival Pinkerton. The unbeaten Blue Devils (8-0) also had strong performances from Katie Bettencourt, Taylor Dyer, Tatum Dyer, Ashley Mulkey and Michaela Galvin. Salem goalie Adrena Ghazarian had two saves.
Astros (4-3-1) goalie Julie Medeiros made 10 saves while Jacki Benson, Devan Shea and Leah Tustin were other standouts.
Omar Khartabil notched a goal and two assists as Pinkerton cruised to a 7-1 win vs. Salem. The Astros (8-0) also had goals from Jordan Ward, Josh DiPirro, Alex Germaine (assist), Zach Wheeler, Colby Pooler and Peter Drivas (assist) while Marc Siragusa notched two assists. The Blue Devils (1-7) had a goal from Aaron Mackey on a penalty kick.
Londonderry scored five goals in the second half in a 7-1 win over Portsmouth. Both Dan Lewis and Degan Kelly had two goals for the Lancers.
Sarah Raye scored two goals as Salem topped Pinkerton, 4-2. Cassie Chase and Liz Merriken scored the other goals for the Blue Devils (4-4) while Caitlin Peters, Olivia Connors and Gina Righini notched assists. Salem goalie Sarah Snyder stopped six shots.
Pinkerton opened up a close game with two second half goals to squeak by Dover 3-1. Sara Angelosanto had a goal and an assist for the Astros.
Girls Cross Country
Aryon Trujillo finished ninth with a time of 19:40 to lift Pinkerton to a fourth-place finish at the Manchester Invitational on Saturday. Trujillo's time was the second-best by an Astro at the Derryfield course. Allie Lane (20:41) and Sarah Titus (20:55) finished with sub-21:00 times as well.
Pinkerton (191) outlasted Dover (203), Exeter (214) and Londonderry (229). Greg Poggi (37 points), Brian Colbert (38 points) and Ryan Busby (38 points) were notable Astros (25-5). The Lancers (5-22) had solid matches from Tad Robinson (42 points) and Evan Walsh (45 points).
