DERRY — The Majestic Academy of Dramatic Arts presents "James and the Giant Peach Jr." on stage at the Derry Opera House.

Performances are Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12, at 7 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 13, 2 p.m. The Opera House is located at 29 West Broadway.

Under the direction of A. Robert Dionne, youth cast members hail from communities all over the region.

The show is based on author Roald Dahl's most famed stories, and is a brand new take on the tale. The show features musical score with charming songs, stories, and a theme of courage and self-discovery.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

Tickets for "James and the Giant Peach Jr." are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and older, and $12 for youth 17 and under. Tickets can be purchased by calling 603-669-7469 or visit majestictheatre.net. Tickets will also be sold at the door on performance days.
