Collecting coins

There's still time to add one more special coin to that collection, or just pick up one that will undoubtedly become a collector's item. The Derry Town Clerk's office has Derry's Nutfield 300th commemorative coins for sale. Each coin is $5.

Books to borrow or buy

Leach Library in Londonderry not only lends out books to its patrons of all ages, but also hosts a special bookstore area where people can buy books to keep for their own. The library regularly accepts donations of books in good condition. Book sale room hours are Tuesdays, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and Thursday, 6 to 7:45 p.m. The library is located on Mammoth Road.

Celebrating sports

Londonderry has a lot to be happy about lately when it comes to their sports teams. Recently, the high school Lancers football team took the state championship and also Londonderry's unified soccer team also took the top state crown. Town councilors decided to make it a regular thing to bring in athletes and honor them at their regular meetings.

When Londonderry High beat Pinkerton in September in the Mack Plaque football game, councilors honored the team and coaches with an official proclamation. At the Nov. 25 meeting, it was the unified soccer athletes getting council accolades.

"Let's start talking about this, let's make sure the kids know we care," said Chairman John Farrell.

The soccer team took the state title Nov. 10, winning over a team from Dover.
