Fond farewells

It was a parade like no other, especially for all the families and their children taking part in a car parade to show appreciation for a beloved teacher.

Linda Rosinski is retiring after more than 30 years of service to the Derry Cooperative School District and was treated to a special goodbye at Derry Village Elementary School on Sept. 13.

People came out safely to say their goodbyes to Roskinski, who sat in a chair and received many posters, notes and other farewell gifts.

Happy Birthday Phyllis!

Derry Town Councilor Phyllis Katsakiores was surprised during a council meeting Sept. 15 as fellow councilors presented the longstanding town official and state legislator a proclamation to honor her 86th birthday.

Council Chairman Charlie Foote read the proclamation, saying Katsakiores has been a Derry resident for 58 years, is mother to three, grandmother to eight and great-grandmother to 12; has served in the New Hampshire State House for more than three decades and is involved in many community projects and organizations.


Village people return

It's a fall tradition in Chester for the annual scarecrow display to take shape and this year, it's another sell-out of scarecrow kits for residents around town hoping to create a unique character out of burlap faces. Stay tuned for updates on where scarecrows will be located.
