Sticking to it
After the November election, Derry Town Moderator Tina Guilford reported that she had fielded requests from voters wondering why "I Voted" stickers were not distributed then. Guilford made the decision to be as safe as possible during the pandemic and avoid as much contact with voters as possible. The most recent town/school election on March 9 had an ample supply of stickers to give out to voters.
Signs of the season
It's a sign of warmer times to come as Derry's Parks and Recreation Department puts out the call for seasonal help this summer. That includes the need for lifeguards, concession staff, park workers, and many more jobs. Anyone interested can contact Parks and Recreation at Veterans Hall on West Broadway, or call 603-432-6136.
Sap's a flowing
March is typically the time when those who love all things maple are looking forward to visiting a favorite sugar house. With many safety precautions put in place due to the ongoing pandemic, anyone wanting to visit sugar houses this month is urged to check ahead of time for hours, safety criteria and other information. In Londonderry, trees are now holding the familiar blue bags that collect the sweet sap around various locations, including those hanging on trees near the historic Grange Hall on Mammoth Road.
A local spa is being honored for its hard work keeping its business going safely for clients and staff during the pandemic. Soleil Salon and Spa in Windham was among honorees to be profiled in Salon Today Magazine. Two hundred salons were honored for their best business-building ideas in 2019 and survival strategies put in place in 2020 when challenges faced many businesses due to COVID-19.
