Sharing the season
It's not too early to start thinking of the upcoming season of giving and there will be many opportunities in the area to help those in need. Donations are always welcome at Sonshine Soup Kitchen, First Baptist Church Food Pantry, the thrift shop at Marion Gerrish Community Center and other charitable causes that will be supporting many during the holidays and beyond. The Derry News Santa Fund will again be teaming up to support the Derry Community Fund and Londonderry Rotary holiday missions to help families and individuals in need.
Not so scary
There's still time to check out the not-so-scary scarecrows and Spudcrows dotting the Derry landscape and other surrounding communities. Chester's scarecrow display remains through Halloween and Derry's Spudcrows will be on display in area business windows and on residents' lawns.
Menu on the move
Lucciano's restaurant will celebrate a bigger space at a new locations in Apple Tree Mall near Shaw's. The new space will give the restaurant almost double the seating area and more room to serve up favorites to customers. The move was announced in June.
Time for treats
Area towns will celebrate Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, with fun trick-or-treat fun for families. In Derry, trick or treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Londonderry hosts Halloween trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m. In Windham, trick-or-treat times were moved to Saturday, Nov. 2, 5 to 8 p.m. due to a rainy Halloween weather forecast.
