LONDONDERRY — The staff of Salon Bogar is celebrating the grand reopening of their business at 25 Orchard View Drive.

The salon, owned by Alfredo and Amy Lamparelli, recently underwent a major renovation, adding space and expanding services to its ever-growing clientele.

It now boasts 19 hair stations, four manicure stations and three pedicure chairs. A second private room has been added for skin treatments.

Guest services, an accessory boutique and retail product space complete what Alfredo Lamparelli calls "an oasis in the community."

Salon Bogar opened in the summer of 1990 with just three hair stylists. There are now 36 employees, many of whom work full time.

The recent renovation expanded the salon's space from 3,000 to 3,600 square feet. The decor and furnishings all have been upgraded to give a modern, yet warm, ambience.

"We want every guest to feel special when they are here and beautiful when they leave," Lamparelli said.

Lamparelli said Salon Bogar has always been an education-based salon. The salon offers a one-year training program for new stylists after they complete cosmetology school.

The staff is continually educated by professionals from L'Oreal in the latest products and hair care.

"They either come here to give classes or we go to the institute in New York," he said.

Amy Lamparelli said the salon has 4,200 active clients. Many have moved away, but still come to Londonderry for their hair care.

"We have online booking, but our guest services staff is always available by phone for appointments and questions," she said.

Lamparelli said the staff works as a team as opposed to renting booths and working independently.

"That way, guests can try another stylist if they'd like," she said.

In addition to L'Oreal, the salon carries Kerastase, Dermalogica and Jane Iredale products.

Salon Bogar will be holding a grand reopening event for the public Friday, May 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be discounts on products, service demonstrations and a silent auction to benefit Girls Inc.

The first 100 people to attend will receive a swag bag filled with products.
