LONDONDERRY — The Planning Board unanimously approved a plan to bring a cell tower to property on Mohawk Drive.
At a meeting earlier this month, planning officials unanimously agreed to the plan to build the telecommunications tower on about an acre of land at 11 Mohawk Drive.
The property owner is Tahoe Realty Holding LLC with Bay Communications III LLC and T-Mobile Northeast LLC as the applicant.
John Springer, representative for the plan, came before the board and said the land — about one acre — is a perfect spot for the 140-foot mono-pole tower that would have T-Mobile operations at the top and three other carriers below.
The town of Londonderry's emergency services may also have space on the tower, Springer said.
All access to the property will be off Mohawk Drive.
"It's a great spot to bring coverage to the Route 102 and South Road area, Apple Tree Mall area," Springer said.
The plan received approvals from the Zoning Board earlier this year, Springer said. The town's Heritage Commission and Conservation Commission also reviewed the plan and approved the details.
As part of the plan, there will be a concrete pad and 8-foot fencing surrounding the compound, Springer said.
The pole will not be lit, with the exception of small lights at the base where equipment cabinets connected to the pole will be located.
Springer said there will be room on the tower for future carriers to sign on.
