LONDONDERRY — A 78-year-old Londonderry man was arrested this week after sexually abusing a family member for years, according to police.
Anthony Donovan, a longtime resident of Capitol Hill Drive, is charged with five counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault incest, and a count of prostitution and related offenses, according to a police report.
The Derry News and Eagle-Tribune do not name victims of sexual assault.
A judge set bail at $25,000 cash during a hearing Wednesday morning, Detective Chris Olson said.
Olson said police intervened after the victim told a close family member about the alleged abuse.
The family member went to the Londonderry Police Department on Jan. 14, to tell a detective about a "bad feeling that something may be going on."
Officers arrested Donovan on a warrant at his home Feb. 5.
A police report details allegations from summer 2013 to fall 2018 at Donovan's home.
The charge Donovan faces for prostitution and related offenses stems from an accusation that the victim was paid $20 on multiple occasions to touch Donovan in a sexual manner while he showered.
The victim said the abuse stopped when threats were made to report it.
