LONDONDERRY — It was a banner day for one local golfer as he sunk his first hole-in-one.

Jim Browning made the shot June 21 during a golf outing at Londonderry Country Club. His son Carter, 14, was on hand to watch.

"I did it on hole 9," Browning said, noting the Londonderry course is an 18-hole property.

He sank his ball on the par three hole, driving it 165 yards for the hole-in-one.

Browning said he tries to play golf several times a week during the summer and enjoyed having Carter along on this momentous outing.

"I love it," he said. "It doesn't matter how old you are, you can still go out there and play."

Browning said he has played golf since he was about 19.

Browning is proud of his accomplishment and said the country club planned to honor him with a plaque on the wall.
