Library hosts ‘Vanished Veterans’
Leach Library hosts a program “Vanished Veterans: New Hampshire’s Civil War Monuments and Memorials” on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. The program is presented by historian George Morrison, who will share stories about some of the state’s monuments and history. The program is free and open to the first 90 individuals due to limited seating.
Filing period opens Jan. 23
It’s not too early to think about running for office and the filing period for candidates hoping to run for town or school district office opens Jan. 23 and ends Feb. 1 at 5 p.m.
For the school district, open spots are school board member for three years; school district clerk, three years; school district moderator, three years; school district treasurer, three years. To file for school office, contact school district clerk Mary Wing Soares at 247-1679 or stop by the school district office from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 for final filing.
On the town side, open positions include Town Council, two positions for three years; Budget Committee, two positions for three years, one position for one year; Town Treasurer, one position for three years; library trustees, three positions for three years; Trustee of Trust Fund, one position for a three-year term. Yoga for seniors offered
Signups begin Jan. 22 for Londonderry Senior Center's yoga for seniors classes. Barbara Scott and Lisa Kress will lead the eight-week series of affordably priced yoga classes, designed especially for seniors to help increase balance, flexibility and strength, as well as maintaining well being.
Sign up for either a Tuesday or Thursday class, or both. Classes begin Tuesday, Feb. 5, 9 to 10 a.m. and are held at the senior center, 535 Mammoth Road. Payment is required at the time of registration. For more details call the senior center at 432-8554.
Legion offers bingo at VA
American Legion Post 27 will be playing bingo with patients at the VA Hospital in Manchester on Jan. 28, 7 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be pizza and diet soda served.
