Library hosts virtual events

Leach Library hosts a series of virtual programs. The “Tour of Destiny” instructional video series is now available on the Leach Library Facebook page and YouTube channel. Each video covers a different topic to help you use and navigate Destiny, the Leach Library’s catalog.

Starting on Monday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., learn some basic search tips from Donna Plante, Head of Reference and Technical Services. A video on power search options will also be available starting on Monday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m.

Also beginning Nov. 9 is a virtual book talk for teens that will be available on the Leach Library Facebook page. Miss Megan talks about two new books from popular young adult series: "Midnight Sun" by Stephenie Meyer and "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" by Suzanne Collins.

Legion hosts events

The American Legion Post 27, 6 Sargent Road, hosts events during November. On Nov. 9, 7:30 p.m. the Legion hosts its monthly meeting. All members are welcome to attend. On Nov. 14, 7:30 p.m., enjoy karaoke with DJ Sharon. Nonmembers interested in learning more about joining the Legion are also welcome to attend.

Every Sunday, the post serves food prepared by members during the 1 p.m. football game. Legionnaires eat for free with a $5 donation for everyone else. The post home also offers keno games and all prospective members are invited to stop by and learn more about the facility, community support and becoming a member.
