Filing period opens Jan. 22

Anyone wishing to sign up to run for open School Board positions can sign up beginning Jan. 22. The last day to file is Jan. 31. There are two open positions, each for three years, up for election at the polls in March. To make arrangements to file, contact Mary Wing Soares, school district clerk at 603-247-1679. Soares will also be at the school district office on Friday, Jan. 31, 3 to 5 p.m. for final filing.

Leach hosts January craft times

Leach Library offers "Create a Craft" with a fun craft offered each week during January. At the beginning of each week, the library will provide supplies for a new craft for patrons to create. A new craft can be picked up each week starting at 9 a.m. Jan. 21, and Monday, Jan. 27. Craft supplies will also be available through 5 p.m. each Saturday.

Leach offers animal program

Leach Library hosts a program on how animals spend their winter, including stories, crafts, and songs. The program is Monday, Jan. 27, 4 to 5 p.m. and limited to 90 participants of all ages. To register, stop by the library’s Children’s Room or call 603-421-1127.

Legion plays bingo

Members of American Legion Post 27 will be playing bingo with patients at the VA Hospital in Manchester on Jan. 27, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Pizza and diet soda will be served. The Legion is also welcoming new members with the proper eligibility requirements including for anyone serving on federal active duty in the United States Armed Services since Dec. 7, 1941 and have been honorably discharged or are still serving. The Legion also welcomes men whose fathers or grandfathers meet eligibility requirements as well as women related to qualified members. Those two groups can join the Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary, respectively. To learn more about eligibility requirements visit alaforveterans.org/joining.

Romping Reads offered

Leach Library offers a new half-hour program, Romping Reads, open to participants of all ages. Each week, participants will enjoy songs, interactive stories and games. Program is Wednesdays, 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. Advance registration required by calling the library at 603-421-1127. Program dates are Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
