New polling times announced

The town of Londonderry will now have new polling times for the upcoming election on Tuesday, March 12.

New polling hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Londonderry High School gymnasium on Mammoth Road.

Voters will decide on both town and school district budgets and will also choose elected officials.

Filing period now open

The filing period is now open for anyone wanting to sign up for town or school district office. Filing period ends on Friday, Feb. 1. Anyone wanting to sign up can stop by the town clerk office at the town office complex for town office. For school positions, contact district clerk Mary Wing Soares at 247-1679. Soares will also be in the school district office from 3 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 1, for final filings.

‘The First First Lady’ at Leach Library

Leach Library welcomes Anne Barrett for an evening performance of “The First First Lady” at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21. Barrett has been entertaining audiences for more than 10 years, all while writing and researching her own material. Her prior experience working with her local historical society and at the North Shore Music Theatre have helped bring her historical presentations to life.

She will portray Martha Washington as she takes the audience on a journey through her life, sharing her private family joys and sorrows. As the year is 1792, she will be relating her experiences thus far as the President’s wife, detailing everything from her social obligations to the current political climate, as well as her concerns for her husband in the challenges he faces in guiding the new country. This program is free and open to the public with seating limited to the first 90 individuals. It will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room. Light refreshments will be served.

Checklist supervisors to meet

The Supervisors of the Voter Checklist will meet at the town clerk’s office on Saturday, March 2, 10 to 11:30 a.m. to correct the checklist and register voters. This is the last day to vote prior to the town election on Tuesday, March 12. To register to vote, one must provide proof of Londonderry residency, proof of citizenship (passport, birth certificate, naturalization papers), and photo ID. Qualified applicants who do not possess proof or who do not bring proof with them may register if they sign an affidavit attesting to their qualifications for identity, age, domicile and citizenship.
