Transportation meeting set

Executive Councilor Ted Gatsas will host a GACIT (Governor's Advisory Commission on Intermodal Transportation) hearing at Londonderry Town Hall on Thursday, Sept., at 7 p.m. in the Moose Hill Council Chambers, town offices.

Gatsas will be joined by state transportation officials to discuss the 2021-2030, 10-year Transportation Plan, including projects in the Londonderry area. The public is urged to attend.

Calling all Leadership grads

Graduates of the Leadership Londonderry program are invited to meet the 2020 Leadership class and enjoy an ice cream sundae on Thursday, Sept. 12, 6 p.m. at the Matthew Thornton Elementary School cafe.

Library hosts coyote program

Leach Library hosts a program, “The Real Eastern Coyote, at 7 p.m., Sept. 19, at the library on Mammoth Road. The program is presented by Christine Schadler, a member of the Northeast Wolf Coalition, who is also a representative for Project Coyote in New Hampshire and Vermont, and co-founder of the New Hampshire Wildlife Coalition. She has taught conservation and wolf ecology classes at University of New Hampshire for many years and has won many teaching honors.

Schadler will explain how and when the Eastern coyote arrived in New England, how it lives amid communities but is rarely seen, and how it contributes to keeping forests and fields healthy. The program is free and open to the public with seating limited to the first 90 people.

The program is held in the lower level meeting room.

Library offers fall programs

Leach Library offers a program Sept. 23, 4 to 5 p.m., featuring Carol and Crew, with some fun puppets to tell stories. The program is open to 90 participants of all ages and advance registration is required by calling 432-1127 or stop by the Children’s Room beginning Sept. 16 to sign up.

Voter session planned

The Supervisors of the Voter Checklist will meet at the town clerk’s office on Oct. 1, 6 to 7 p.m. to correct the checklist and register voters.

To register to vote, one must provide proof of Londonderry residency, proof of citizenship (passport, birth certificate, naturalization papers), proof of age, photo ID. Qualified applicants who do not possess proof or who do not bring proof with them may register if they sign an affidavit attesting to their qualifications for identity, age, domicile and citizenship.

Women’s Club hosts night of comedy

Come join the Londonderry Women’s Club for a night of comedy on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Londonderry Country Club.

Tickets are on sale now to see nationally recognized comedians. Come early for a chance to win amazing raffles and enjoy social time in this beautiful local venue. The raffle begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Proceeds from the night go to support local charities and community outreach. Household hazardous waste collection set

Londonderry hosts the Fall Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, Nov. 23,  9 a.m. to noon at Nelson Fields (LAFA) off Sargent Road (Behind Central Fire Station). The collection is for both Londonderry and Derry residents.

Residents who have household hazardous material such as pesticides or herbicides, oil-based paints, paint remover or thinner, solvents/degreasers, household cleaners, pool chemicals, old gasoline or anti-freeze will be able to dispose of these items.
