Leach hosts ‘Living With Bears’
Leach Library hosts a program “Living With Bears” on Thursday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m. and featuring Andrew Timmins, a wildlife biologist with New Hampshire Fish and Game. He serves as a bear project leader with Fish and Game.
Timmins will teach attendees about bear biology and management in New Hampshire with a focus on the challenges of bear management, the issue of bear cultural carrying capacity and bear/human conflict avoidance and management. The program is free and open to the public with seating limited to the first 90 individuals. The program is held in the lower level meeting room at the library.
Arts Cafe features area talent
The Londonderry Arts Council hosts the sixth annual Arts Cafe on Saturday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Orchard Christian Fellowship, 136 Pillsbury Road. Area artisans are invited to exhibit and sell their art work and crafts and can register for space by visiting londonderryartscouncil.org/arts-cafe. The Arts Cafe is free to the public and also features musicians. Refreshments will be available.
Romping Reads offered
Leach Library offers a new half-hour program, Romping Reads, open to participants of all ages. Each week, participants will enjoy songs, interactive stories and games. Program is Wednesdays, 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. Advance registration required by calling the library at 603-421-1127. Program dates are Feb. 20 and 27.
Musquash Field Day set
The annual Musquash Field Day is Saturday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 1,000-acre conservation property. The day includes nature trails, hikes, snowshoeing, bonfire and snacks.
Kiwanis starts clubs
Kiwanis, an international service organization in over 80 countries with more than 550,000 members, continues to grow with their mission statement: Improving the world one community and one child at a time.
Plans are in the works to expand their presence in the Greater Derry and Londonderry communities with the eventual opening of its own club.
In the interim, it has opened as a satellite club of Hooksett Kiwanis, the largest club in New England with more than 100 members.
There is a Meet and Greet event scheduled at O’Shea’s Caife and Tae, 44 Nashua Road, Londonderry on Monday, March 9, 6 p.m.
Community service events have also been planned for the coming month. Interested parties are welcome to attend one of these meetings to hear more about what Kiwanis has to offer to improve the growing communities of Derry and Londonderry.
