LONDONDERRY — A local library will benefit from grant funding for a new collection for patrons to enjoy.

Leach Library received an American Rescue Plan sub grant for $3,898 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the New Hampshire State Library to be used to offer a new Playaway Launchpad collection that will become available later this summer.

Donna Plante, head of the library's Reference and Technical Services, applied for the sub grant hoping to expand patron access to digital learning content through circulating devices.

Playaway Launchpad tablets are pre-loaded with interactive games and apps that do not require an internet connection. Each rechargeable device features a different theme and can be easily navigated through a touch screen.

Patrons will be able to check out tables on a variety of subjects including language arts, math, critical thinking and even subjects like dinosaurs.

The new collection will continue Leach Library's mission to provide materials that meet residents' personal, education and recreational needs.

The library will unveil the new collection later this summer and will provide additional details and updates.
