LONDONDERRY — It's an annual post-holiday event that fires up a lot of community spirit.

On Jan. 5, Londonderry Boy Scout Troop 521 collected more than 400 Christmas trees, piled them up in a heap behind the Mack's Apples farm stand on Mammoth Road, then lit a fire to help keep those attending warm for a good cause.

The annual tree bonfire has been going on for more than 20 years, starting as an Eagle Scout project and now a way for local Scouts to support their troop and bring community together.

Many came out on a wet, chilly night to watch the fire burn.
