Charlie Goodspeed has opened a new business, DG Cycles, in the Apple Tree Mall on Orchard View Drive in Londonderry.

LONDONDERRY — If Santa needs an extra bicycle or two, now he can find them at DG Cycles, a full service bike shop that opened last week in the Apple Tree Mall.

DG Cycles offers a local option for bicycles, as well as cycling accessories, apparel and repair.

Owned and operated by Londonderry resident Charlie Goodspeed, DG Cycles carries a full line of road, mountain and hybrid bikes for children and adults. They also carry tricycles, unicycles and indoor trainers; they will order tandem bikes or other specialty items on request.

Inside the spacious store, there is a large assortment of cycling jerseys, tights, shoes and gloves — including a full line of winter cycling gear — as well as seats, helmets, lights and more.

DG Cycles also offers quality used bikes, sold on consignment.

"We carry brands like Giant, Scott, Rocky Mountain, Santa Cruz, Redline and Haro," Goodspeed said. "And, we cater to everyone from beginners to advanced riders."

DG Cycles also includes a full-service repair shop, offering everything from bike fittings and tune-ups to full repairs for all brands of bicycles. Goodspeed, a former engineer, said they achieve a two-day turnaround on most repairs.

Goodspeed said he opened the Londonderry store "because there are no other bike shops around and people don't want to battle the traffic to Salem or Manchester stores."

"Plus, so many people kept asking me, 'When are you going to open a bike shop here in Londonderry?,'" he said.

Goodspeed also is the co-owner of a second DG Cycles shop in Epping.

"It's our goal to offer exceptional customer service," he said. "We live here, too. Our shop is part of our own community. When a customer comes in, we want to fit them to the right bike, something they'll enjoy riding, not just sell them any bike for the sake of a sale. We want to be the local guys you know and trust."

The store invites anyone to join in on the community mountain bike and road rides they are organizing every week throughout the year. Currently, rides take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A schedule is located on the shop's website, dgcycles.com.
