DERRY — Lots of hoops, defense and community support was seen on the court recently as one local school team took on challengers from of Derry's Fire and Police departments.

Earlier this month, the first ever March Madness basketball game between the Gilbert H. Hood Middle School's Adult Huskies and the Hometown Heroes team made of of police and fire officials, was played at Hood school before a crowd of more than 200 spectators.

The game was played to benefit the school's PTSA teachers, parents, and students association.

School district administrators took on referee duties and the night also included music provided by the Hood band, baton twirling action and some fun shootouts for students to enjoy.
