Register now for Rock Solid Wrestling Camp

DERRY — Derry's Wrestling Rebels will host the Rock Solid Wrestling Camp at the West Running Brook Middle School July 18-20. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The cost is $160.

Rock Bonomo is the former head coach at Lock Haven University, a two-time All American, and is recognized as one of the best youth clinicians in the country.

Bonomo will be assisted by several of his former wrestlers, who have wrestled in the NCAA tournament and are currently coaching various high school programs throughout the country.

Camp registration forms are available at the Greater Derry Boys' and Girls' Club or may be downloaded at wrestlingrebels.com.

Local students honored by Plymouth State

The Plymouth State University Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll for 2010-2011 has been announced, and 74 Panther student-athletes and athletic training students were recognized by PSU athletic director John Clark.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, attend PSU for at least one full year, participate at least one full year on a varsity team, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30. These qualifications are consistent with the minimum cumulative GPA for which a student-athlete may be nominated for the Academic All-America teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and the Little East Conference.

There were two local students among the 74 recognized.

For football, senior Dan Kelly of Londonderry made the list, as did sophomore Jonathan Hartman of Derry for athletic training.

Shoot for the Stars at field hockey camp

DERRY — The annual Astros Shoot for the Stars Field Hockey Camp will run from 8 a.m. to noon at Rider field in Derry the weeks of July 11-15 and July 18-22.

The camp is open to players from beginners to high school varsity. It will be run by Coach Denise Rioux and her staff.

The cost is $100 for one week, $175 for two weeks. Campers may attend either or both weeks.

It's summer and time for soccer camp

DERRY — Varsity Soccer Academy camp director Kerry Boles has announced summer soccer camp dates for 2011.

The youth week is scheduled for July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. The high school session is July 18-22 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

Both camps will be held at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School. The camps are open to all boys and girls, regardless of skill level.

The fitness camp, open to all high school-aged boys and girls, regardless of sport, is Aug. 1-5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pinkerton Academy.
