TJ Evarts, 15, of Londonderry received the prestigious FIRST Dean’s List Award nomination.

LONDONDERRY — Tristan "TJ" Evarts, 15, of Londonderry received the prestigious FIRST Deans List Award nomination at the annual BAE Systems' Granite State Regional FIRST Robotics Competition Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester.

The Dean's List recognizes "FIRST Student Superstars" from around the world. TJ, a senior member of the FIRST LEGO League World Champion team the Inventioneers, joined Londonderry's FIRST Robotics team, the PVC Pirates, in the fall as a software programmer. The PVC Pirates team mentors submitted TJ's nomination application.

TJ qualified for the nomination because of his outstanding leadership and promotion of FIRST, founded by Dean Kamen, and its ideals in NH and around the nation. He committed more than 700 volunteer hours towards FIRST's mission of inspiring young people to be science and technology leaders.

TJ's accomplishments include speaking with President Obama at the White House Science Fair about FIRST programs; volunteering 11 hours at the USA Science and Technology Festival in Washington, D.C.; promoting FIRST to thousands of attendees; developing and teaching programs to help students K-14 get started in the FIRST family of programs in New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.; and much more.

The final awards will be presented in St. Louis at the World Championships in April.
