LONDONDERRY — Babies, here's your chance to put on your fancy clothes and smile for the cameras. Parents can enter their precious offspring in the annual Old Home Day Baby Contest next month.

"The contest is usually run by Maria Kwaitkowski," said Kathy Wagner, Old Home Day chairwoman. "But she'll be out of town on the day of the contest this year."

Wagner put out a call to see if someone would step up to the plate to run the popular event.

"I thought we'd have to cancel it, but Bob Ciarletta, who runs the children's games, said he'll run the baby contest," Wagner said.

The Baby Contest takes place on the busiest morning of the five-day event, which takes place this year Aug. 18 to 22.

It will be held in the Matthew Thornton gym, 275 Mammoth Road, on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 9 a.m.

All babies who are Londonderry residents and born between Aug. 1, 2009, and Aug. 14, 2010, are invited to be contestants.

There will be prizes for the Best Personality, Best Dressed, Best Smile and Little Miss Londonderry and Little Master Londonderry. Preregistration is required and registration will not be accepted the day of the event.

To register, mail a completed registration form, available at oldhomeday.com, to Baby Contest, 3 Lexington Ave., Londonderry, NH 03053. Include a check for $20 for each contestant, made payable to "Town of Londonderry."
