LONDONDERRY — Twenty-eight students graduated from Londonderry High School’s Adult Education program June 5 at a ceremony in the school gymnasium.

Families, friends, and school administration and staff were on hand to help celebrate the students’ success.

Students in the program participate in the night adult education program and earn the required credits needed to graduate.

The reasons why the students chose the night program are as varied as the individual students.

Unlike a general education diploma, students graduating from the program receive a diploma from Londonderry High School.

Greg Warren, director of the alternative education program, said he is proud of all the students in the Class of 2014.

“We’re here to celebrate your accomplishment as you transition from one stage of life to the next,” Warren said. “Always look to the future with your head up and never give up.”

Warren said graduates were in the program due to a myriad of life circumstances, making it hard for them to attend the traditional day school schedule.

Superintendent Nate Greenberg told the graduates their diplomas were “well earned.”

“This may not be the typical road, but it’s your road,” he said.

School Board Chairman Leitha Reilly said the students should all be proud for the choices they are making in terms of their education and their life goals.

“You all made this happen,” she said. “I’m confident your better days lie ahead. Enjoy the ride at every turn.”

Elizabeth Sanchez told her classmates they were all there due to life situations that often got in the way of a traditional education.

“We’re here because we needed a little extra push,” she said.

Warren announced this would be his final adult education graduation. He wished his last graduating class well.

“We’ve had a good time together,” he said. “I am tremendously proud of you.”

Graduates receiving diplomas were: Carly Anderson, Hailey Audet, Alexander Augusto, Brandon Bellegarde, Bradley Benedict, Jasmine Betts, Kyle Carrier, Lucian Davidson, Julie Dubreuil, Gage Evans, Zachary Farrington, Christopher Fiquet, Joseph Fortier, Victoria Healey, Matthew Heuston, Nathan Kilgus, Matthew Lawley, Devan Makarawicz, Eric McCain, Katherine McCarthy, Shantay Merrill, Camille Piana, Ashley Rollins, Nicole Roy, Elizabeth Sanchez, Anthony Santomassino Jr., Candice Thorndike, Harley Valley, and Jason White.
