LONDONDERRY — Registration for Leach Library’s adult summer reading program will begin on Saturday, June 1, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 31.
The program is open to any Leach Library adult card-holder. Participants may register at any time at the Reference Desk, where they will receive an information sheet and a bingo card to be filled out during the summer. This card can be turned in when five blocks are completed for a chance to win a prize.
The first participants to register will also receive a folded-up, zippered tote bag in addition to the information sheet and bingo card. Quantities of the tote bag are limited and are available first come, first served.
For every book or three magazines read after registering for the program, participants will receive one raffle ticket. These tickets can be completed and returned for entry into weekly raffle drawings. Prizes for the weekly raffle drawings include a variety of items; many of them featuring the “Groundbreaking Reads” logo.
Additionally, gift certificates will be raffled off that have been donated by local businesses, including Avandi’s, The Coach Stop Tavern and Restaurant, Coffeeberries, C.R. Sparks Kitchen, and Giovanni’s, among others. The participant who reads the most books over the summer will receive a grand prize gift basket.
Check out the central display each month over the summer for a selection of reading material with different topics relating to the theme, such as groundbreaking reads, subterranean experiences, and archaeology.
Additionally, there will be a game sheet to be completed each month and returned to the Reference Desk. Game sheets are available at the central display. Every completed game sheet that answers all questions correctly will be entered into a monthly prize drawing.
