LONDONDERRY — Children attending a program at Leach Library recently got up close with many animals, thanks to a Wildlife Encounters program.

Wildlife Encounters is a familiar fixture around the region, offering animal programs to community groups, libraries and schools.

This time around, Leach Library participants got to see a skunk, a scorpion and a laughing kookaburra among other things.

Wildlife Encounters owner/educator Derek Small led the program, allowing children to touch the animals while learning all about where they come from and how they live.
