Londonderry High School Marching Lancers  play the half-time show for the Manchester Wolves at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. The band, who will perform 2008 Olympic International Youth Festival in Beijing, China, inspired a turnaround for the Wolves, who went on to regain the lead and win their home opener, 54-41.

LONDONDERRY — The Knights are offering help to the Lancers. St. Jude, patron saint of hope, is helping out a little bit, too.

The Knights of Columbus at St. Jude's Church in Londonderry will donate half of the proceeds from their annual golf tournament to the Londonderry High School Lancers Marching Band and Color Guard. The money will go toward the band's trip to participate in the 2008 Olympic Youth Festival in Beijing, China.

Londonderry's 330-member band is one of three in the United States invited to the event by the Chinese American Cultural Bridge Center on behalf of the Olympic International Festival Committee. The cost to attend can run as high as $4,000 per student.

"Each year, we donate the money from the golf tournament to St. Jude's," said Mark Stay, a member of the Knights of Columbus. "This year, we decided to split it 50/50 with the band."

St. Jude's was the first organization to contribute to the band's trip fund when it donated $2,000 in March.
