As 2020 gets its start, it's time to look back at a few festive holiday times that made this season bright in the area.

There were school visits with Santa, a community gathering in Londonderry, children enjoying the season with friends and family, and opportunities to support those in need this season, even if it meant taking a chilly dip in a local lake. Local police gathered hundreds of toys to support families and young students created warmth and support for those needing help through the Derry Community Fund. Meals were served, food was collected, and people were fed by teams of volunteers serving up community.

Salvation Army bells rang and kettles were filled with donations. The Derry News Santa fund supported both the Community Fund and Londonderry Rotary holiday missions, with Rotarians taking to the aisles of Derry's Walmart to shop for more than 100 families and individuals.
