Barka names Students of Week

DERRY — Ernest P. Barka Elementary School announces its Students of the Week for the period ending March 12. The following students were honored: Kindergarten: Maddilyn Dyer, Brynn Palmer, Joseph Porto, Axel Reichard, Owen Sullivan; Grade one: Jackson Caikauskas, Jordan Ineson, Jackson Potvin, Niki Savvas; Grade two: Aidyn Bustmante, Christopher Kaskiewicz, Kalina Routhier, Alicia White; Grade three: Jadiel Garcia, Owen Gregg, Aubrie Hatch, Lucas Peck; Grade four: Aubrey Bates, Jackson Brough, Raymond Gagne, Brooke Lawton, Rylee Phair; and Grade five: Ryan Freeman, London Gammon, Michael Garrity, and Logan McCain. 


Adult Studies seeks volunteer tutors

DERRY — The Derry Center for Adult Studies and Salem Continuing Education seeks volunteer adult tutors. Work with adult learners from all walks of life. Tutoring is offered for a variety of programs including Adult Basic Education, Adult High School, and Postsecondary Transition. No tutoring experience needed and days and hours are flexible. Virtual sessions are held via Zoom. Anyone interested in volunteering can email for information.

New ESOL class offered

DERRY — The Derry Center for Adult Studies is offering a new class to ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) students to practice conversation skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. The class is one hour per week and is a virtual class held via Zoom. The schedule is flexible and students do not need to attend 100% of classes. Discussion includes a variety of topics including participant-suggested topics. Classes are free.
