Communities honored their heroes with Veterans Day tributes and ceremonies.

In Derry, veterans, town officials, and many others gathered Nov. 11 in MacGregor Park for a morning ceremony that included special comments, music, and salutes to those who served.

Londonderry veterans gathered at the American Legion post home on Sargent Road for tributes and special activities.

Also in Londonderry, students who make up the high school’s Pay It Forward Club spent time making about 150 phone calls to local veterans to thank them for their service.

For the second year due to COVID-19, the high school had to cancel its Veterans Day breakfast, but high school administrator Katie Sullivan said in a social media post that the breakfast will return next year, bigger and better.

Sullivan also thanked the veterans receiving the phone calls for their kindness and meaningful conversations with the students.
