Book sale planned

The Friends of the Derry Libraries host a book sale on Tuesday, July 9, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Derry Public Library, 64 East Broadway. Paperbacks are 50 cents and hardcovers cost $1. Books are sorted by category.

Outdoor volleyball underway

Outdoor volleyball games return to Derry’s MacGregor Park, running Monday nights, 6 p.m. to dark, through October.

The park is located on East Broadway and Boyd Road. The program is free, games are recreational only with pickup teams playing on grass courts with two nets. For information contact Dan Turner at

Renew clothing ministry opens

Renew clothing ministry at Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Road, opens July 13, 8 to 10 a.m. New Hampshire residents only. The ministry offers free, gently-used clothing for all ages. Each household is limited to 15 of the newest items and a reasonable number of older items. Donations of good, clean, modern clothing is always welcome at Renew’s drop-off box near the entrance. Basketball camp starts

Boys basketball camp at Pinkerton Academy is set to start, with four-day sessions running July 15-18 or July 22-25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are different age divisions including 8-9, 10-12, and 13-15. Kiwanis coming to Derry-Londonderry

Kiwanis is an international service organization in more than 80 countries, with more than 600,000 members worldwide.

It’s starting a new club for Derry and Londonderry, which will join the 150 clubs in the New England and Bermuda district.

Sharks in the Gulf of Maine

Get an early jump on “Shark Week” and learn about the shark species that can found in the Gulf of Maine, including the New Hampshire seacoast and neighboring Massachusetts. Local speaker T.J.
