Free summer meals continue
The free meals network continues to offer meals safely for those who come up for a pickup. The following dates and locations will offer "to go" meals to be passed out to individuals remaining in their vehicles: July 18, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Derry, 5 to 6 p.m.; Elijah's Table, Etz Hayim Synagogue, Derry, meals served on July 19, 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.; July 26, Church of the Transfiguration, Derry, continental breakfast, 9 to 9:30 a.m; July 26, St. Jude's Parish in Londonderry, 5 to 6 p.m.; July 31, First Parish Church, East Derry, 5 to 6 p.m.; Aug. 1, Church of the Transfiguration, Derry, 5 to 5:30 p.m.; July 15, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Derry, 5 to 6 p.m.; Aug. 16, Etz Hayim Synagogue in Derry, 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.; Aug. 22, Church of the Transfiguration, Derry, breakfast, 9 to 9:30 a.m.; Aug. 28, First Parish Church, East Derry, 5 to 6 p.m., Aug. 30, St. Jude's Parish in Londonderry, lunch served 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Also, Sonshine Soup Kitchen continues to offer pickup meals at its Derry location on Crystal Avenue. Call for information and times at 603-437-2833.
Summer road closure announced
Residents and motorists are advised that North Shore Road (Island Pond) will be closed to all traffic in the immediate project area of 103 North Shore Road for the purpose of replacing the existing culverts with a new precast concrete structure. North Shore Road will be closed for the duration of the project which is expected to be completed by Sept. 25.
Local traffic on North Shore Road will have access to their properties for the duration of the project. Detour signage will be established to divert traffic around the construction area. Residents of Taylor Brook Lane, Collette’s Grove Road, Howard’s Grove, Rockingham Shores, Germantown Road and Sanborn Road are advised to approach from Drew Road to access their properties. Also, residents of North Shore Road with address numbers 105 or higher are advised to use Drew Road to access their properties. Any project related questions can be directed to the Department of Public Works at 603-432-6144.
Library offers 'Dear Derry' project
Derry Public Library invites all to participate this summer in a "Dear Derry" project. Write a letter to Future Derry about your life, right now. The letters will be collected, compiled and stored in the library's historic New Hampshire Room for future generations. Once a letter is complete, it can be submitted via email, post or dropped off in the box labeled Derry Derry Project in the library's main lobby.
