Giving Tree still accepting donations
Organizers of the Giving Tree standing in the lobby at the municipal center is still collecting donations to help those in need in the community.
Donations go to support Sonshine Soup Kitchen and the Derry Community Fund.Â
Soup kitchen donations are accepted through Dec. 18. Stop by the municipal center during regular operating hours at 14 Manning St.Â
St. Mark's Lodge offers holiday help
St. Mark's Lodge 44, Free and Accepted Masons, accepts donations to support Toys for Tots and other local charities.
Food is collected through Dec. 20 to support the First Baptist Church Food Pantry. Clothes are also accepted to support the church and also the Marion Gerrish Community Center. Toys for Tots donations also will be accepted through Dec. 20.
Transfer station holiday hours set
The town's transfer station announces its holiday hours as follows: Dec. 24, open 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.; closed Christmas Day; Dec. 26 and 27, open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; closed Dec. 28.
On Dec. 31, the transfer station will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and closed New Year's Day, Jan. 1. On Friday, Jan. 2, the station will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Residents should make arrangements to dispose of trash. Call for information at 432-4650.

Taylor Library begins winter story hour registrations beginning Jan. 12, 2015.
Story hours are held in six-week blocks and are for various age groups.
Tiny Tots meet Mondays and Fridays, at 10 a.m. for ages 6 months to 2 years of age. Story Hour and Craft sessions are held Wednesdays at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.; a Lego Club begins Jan. 13, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and run for six weeks.
The Minecraft monthly meeting is Jan. 15, from 4 to 5 p.m.
