Bread baking event helps others

WINDHAM — Residents of Windham Terrace, an assisted living and memory care community, came together recently to bake dozens of loaves of sweet breads to donate to Windham's Helping Hands, a volunteer organization providing for families in need.

Windham Terrace residents baked the bread then put the loaves in the freezer until they are picked up Nov. 22. The breads will then be put in Thanksgiving baskets for families needing support. The senior living community has participated in the bread event for several years, making it a holiday tradition.

In addition to the bread, the "Terrace Elves" also string paper mittens to help decorate the town's Giving Tree and will also select an item from the tree to purchase when they make a trip to the library.
