Windham resident named to board

WINDHAM — The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) announced that James Wegmann, CPA, was elected to the board of directors for its 2019-2020 fiscal year.

Wegmann, a Windham resident, is vice president and assistant treasurer at Fidelity Investments in Merrimack.

The MSCPA board of directors is a group of 18 elected members that sets policies, manages programs and oversees activities that benefit the 11,000-member organization and accounting profession in Massachusetts. The board members were formally welcomed at the MSCPA's Annual Meeting and Reception on May 8.

“The MSCPA’s board of directors plays a vital role in shaping the priorities of the Society and this group of dedicated individuals truly want to better the profession,” said Amy Pitter, president and CEO of the MSCPA. “I am thrilled to have Jim on the board and look forward to witnessing first-hand what his leadership will continue to contribute to the Society, community and the profession in the year ahead.”

Company honors staff

LONDONDERRY — Bode Equipment Company, headquartered in Londonderry, celebrated the 30-year anniversary of staff member Mike Slide recently. The company has been in business since 1975 and Slide works as a salesman.

"Mike is a powerful stakeholder within Bode Equipment Company," said Bode Equipment President Scott Fawcett. "He cares and is committed to those clients he works with. We are proud to have him on the team and we look forward to many more years together."

Shaheen honors New Hampshire day

On June 5, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) welcomed nearly 40 New Hampshire businesses to Capitol Hill for the 10th annual Experience New Hampshire reception in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building. Granite State businesses showcased their products and services, including New Hampshire beer, wines and specialty foods, for policymakers and government officials in Washington. Shaheen was joined by Congressman Chris Pappas, the New Hampshire State Society, and representatives from New Hampshire restaurants and local businesses.

Since the event’s inception in 2009, nearly 230 Granite State businesses, restaurants and organizations have participated, and thousands of guests have enjoyed gourmet foods and drinks from restaurants, vineyards, breweries and culinary training programs from across the state, while also learning more about cultural and tourism opportunities in New Hampshire.

Hospitals honored for safety excellence

Parkland Medical Center and Portsmouth Regional Hospital are recipients of the Healthgrades 2019 Patient Safety Excellence AwardTM. This distinction places Parkland Medical Center in the top 5% and Portsmouth Regional Hospital in the top 10% of all short-term acute care hospitals reporting patient safety data as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals. Parkland and Portsmouth are the only two hospitals in New Hampshire recognized for the 2019 Patient Safety Excellence Award. 

“We are proud to recognize the recipients of the 2019 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award, which shines a spotlight on the hospitals that are preventing the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications, for patients during their hospital stay,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “We applaud these hospitals and their commitment to providing the best possible care for every patient.”

In addition to the Patient Safety Excellence Awards, both Parkland Medical Center and Portsmouth Regional Hospital were two of only three hospitals in the state to recently receive the spring 2019 Leapfrog ‘A’ hospital safety grades.
