DERRY — Youth artists from all over the state put their artwork on display at the annual state PTA-sponsored “Reflections” art contest.

Gilbert H. Hood Middle School hosted the event, where student work took center stage. That included artwork, literature, photography, dance, film production and music.

Reflections is a national arts program sponsored by the PTA for preschool through grade 12.

More than 30 PTAs statewide participated in this year’s contest, resulting in more than 1,200 entries. This year’s theme was “Believe, Dream, Inspire” with 375 of the top entries on display at the Hood event.

First-place entries move on to the national competition and results will be announced in May.

Local students and their awards are: Literature, Jacob Lebroda, A. Diamantopoulos, Julia Bartoli, honorable mention, Derry; Paige Scanlon, third place; Grady Fragala, honorable mention, Londonderry.

Music, Katiea Chylinski, third place, Londonderry; Jude Farley, second place; Jeffrey Velez, first place, Derry.

Visual Arts, Meghan Moore, first place; Hayley Santor, second place and honorable mention; Mason Kline, honorable mention, Londonderry.
