DERRY — Students in Derry spent time last week celebrating good health with a simple jump rope.
South Range Elementary School students spent all week taking turns with the ropes, heading to the gym to swing and move, all in the name of a good cause.
The school’s annual “Jump Rope for Heart” event helped raise awareness and money to support the American Heart Association’s initiatives to keep people and their hearts healthy.
Under the direction of school physical education teacher Cynthia Shea, students of all ages spent time last week taking on the rope challenges, some holding ropes while others jumped or just jumping solo.
The school has participated in “Jump Rope for Heart” for several years, raising thousands of dollars to support the American Heart Association.
