DERRY — Derry's successful farmers market will sprout again throughout the winter season.

Market manager Beverly Ferrante said the popular market, held every Wednesday at the Pocket Park area at Manning Street and Broadway, will continue on as a winter market beginning Nov. 27 at Veterans Hall, 31 West Broadway. The winter market will run through the end of March.

Veterans Hall houses Derry Parks and Recreation's offices and a large gymnasium area that will suit a colder season market. The plan for the winter market may include artisans with handcrafted items and local food products.

The current market continues every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. in downtown Derry through Oct. 13.

In addition, a special farmers market day is set to coincide with the annual Derryfest celebration on Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the present market location.

The winter market will be held on the first and third Sundays of every month from noon to 4 p.m.

Anyone interested in becoming a winter market vendor can contact Ferrante at 434-8974.
