DERRY — The town’s credit rating recently got a boost.

Acting Town Administrator Larry Budreau reported to that Town Council that Standard and Poor’s upgraded Derry’s credit rating from AA to AA-plus, just below the highest rating possible.

“That’s great news for the town,” Budreau said.

Having the rating improve will mean the town will be able to secure better rates when it comes to municipal bonds.

The upgrades came after Derry was noted as having stronger economic health, a good financial system, and good policies and practices in place when it comes to expenditures and handling the books.

Budreau said the town’s good financial health is due to the work of many people.

“I think the community deserves kudos, all of us who work here that pull together an organization,” he said.
