DERRY — Public works officials have released a list of town roads now posted with a seasonal weight limit.
The road weight limits occur annually, according to Public Works Director Michael Fowler. They generally begin around this time of year and last through late April or early May,depending on weather conditions.
Certain roads are posted with weight restrictions until the frost comes out of the ground and the road base dries out, Fowler said.
The following roads are officially posted for weight restrictions: Adams Pond Road, Cemetery Road, Drew Road, Floyd Road, Gulf Road, Kilrea Road, Pingree Hill Road, Warner Hill Road, Back Chester Road, Cole Road, English Range Road, Frost Road, Hemlock Springs Road, Pond Road, Windham Depot Road, Bartlett Road, Damren Road, Ermer Road, Goodhue Road, Humphrey Road, Old Chester Road, Walnut Hill Road and Young Road.
In addition to these seasonal postings, Fowler said Kendall Pond Road (Fordway to Windham Road) and Fordway Extension (Kendall Pond Road to the Windham town line) are posted at a 20-ton weight limit all year long.
Anyone needing to travel on a weight limited road must fill out and submit a Weight Limit Waiver Application prior to travel. Information about road weight limits is available by calling Public Works at 432-6144.
