Library offers children's programs
Derry Public Library offers fun clubs and afterschool activities for children this month and next. Children ages 5 to 7 can drop in every Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. to hear stories, and enjoy arts and crafts. Ages 8-11 can participate in a spring art club March 9, 16, and 23, from 4 to 5 p.m. A Minecraft Club is back on March 6, 13, and 20, 4 to 5 p.m. Call the library to register at 432-6140.
Club honors women in history
The Londonderry Women's Club will host a New Hampshire Humanities presentation about Sarah Josepha Hale in honor of Women's History Month.
This program is open to the public and is held March 15, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway, Derry. Presented in an 1866 setting, Sharon Wood will portray Ann Wyman Blake speaking of her admiration for Hale, a New Hampshire native and America's first female editor.

Library hosts Medicare program
Derry Public Library hosts a program "Medicare 101" on Wednesday, March 15, 1 to 4 p.m. Anyone one new to Medicare or will be in the year future is invited to attend the workshop. The program will review the basics of Medicare including Medicare Part A and B, prescription drug plans called Part D, Medicare Advantage plans and supplements. The workshop is offered by ServiceLink, the state health insurance program for Medicare entity in New Hampshire. Call the library for information or to register at 432-6140.
Library hosts Standing Rock program
Derry Public Library hosts a program on Standing Rock featuring guest speaker Ann Podlipny on Saturday, March 18, at 2 p.m. Podlipny will discuss her first-hand experience at the Oceti Sakowin camp and will offer a visual description of her time spent in December when thousands of veterans and water protectors arrived to support the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. Podlipny has a background in education and social work and works closely with immigrants and refugees in Manchester and also volunteers to teach ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). She is also a flutist with the Kokopelli Flute Ensemble and the Timberlane Community Band. Call the library for information at 432-6140.
Happy Birthday Robert Frost
Derry Public Library hosts a celebration in honor of the birthday of famed poet Robert Frost on Monday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. Local historian Richard Holmes will offer a look into the life of Robert Frost and his time living and working in Derry. For information, call the library at 432-6140.
Upper Room hosts race
The Upper Room hosts the second annual TURRFF road race on Sunday, April 9, at 9 a.m. at the Hackler gym at Pinkerton Academy. Registration is at 8 a.m. The event is open to competitive and non-competitive runners, with walkers, strollers, etc., welcome.
