DERRY — The Upper Room received a grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to help support teen programs at the family resource center on Tsienneto Road.
The $7,500 grant will help the Teen Information for Parents Success program. TIPS provides critical support needed for young families to raise healthy, happy children.
"With so many young families in our area, it is critical to offer programs that promote healthy development for young families," Upper Room executive director Kimberly Bavaro said. "During these challenging times, they are at greatest risk for being unemployed or underemployed, poor nutrition, and even committing child abuse or neglect."
Bank of America president Ken Sheldon said the bank's giving tradition helps programs like that at the Upper Room.
"Programs providing support services to those in need are an area of focus for our philanthropic giving here in New Hampshire," Sheldon said. "The Upper Room offers the opportunity for young families to develop healthy lifestyles and build a solid foundation for the future."
Cathy Taylor, board president at the Upper Room, said corporations like Bank of America work together with nonprofit groups like the Upper Room to create a stronger, more vibrant community.
"We truly appreciate Bank of America's continued support of our programs," she said.
