Call that a shutout
The JV Lady Astros beat Nashua South, 3-0, Oct. 15. Kyra Stariknok scored two goals for the Astros, with one assist from Rachel Godwin. Nicole Gonya also put one in the net on a great pass from Sabrina Thomas. Allison Salema, Christina Ridenour, Megan Jarvis, and Kasey Russo played tight defense. Astros are now 13-0.
Make that 14-0
The JV Astros beat Merrimack, 4-0, Oct. 18.
The Astros out-possessed the Merrimack Tomahawks, controlling the pace of the entire game. Sabrina Thomas, Marissa Clark, Emilie Laliberte, Ali Davis, and Sydney Hill were just some of the players connecting passes and possessing the ball.
Megan Jarvis scored the first goal of the game off a direct kick. Marissa Clark, Kyra Goucher, and Rachel Godwin also scored for the Astros. Hill and JoJo Morse added assists. JV Astros are now 14-0.
Astros come up short
The freshman Lady Astros took on a tough Bedford team Oct. 16, but could not capitalize on their few scoring opportunities. The game remained scoreless at half, but 15 minutes into the second half Bedford managed to put one in the net just out of reach of goalie Julia Bousquet.
Astros Katie Guinto, Allison Demirijan, and Emily Hanna played well on defense, while Nicole Gonya, Madi Smith and Emma Gosselin worked well together up top.
Get out the broom
The Lady Astros won their seventh game in the last eight tries, sweeping Manchester Memorial Oct. 15, 3-0. Game scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-16.
Jillian Tonello played well, getting 7 service points, an ace, and 7 digs. Elizabeth Hicks led Pinkerton with 14 service points and 7 aces. Olivia Mathieu had 13 kills and 18 digs, Courtney Collins led with 4 blocks, and Taylor Ferdinando led with 12 assists.
Astros lose to Merrimack
The Lady Astros lost a hard-played game to Merrimack to drop to 10-5 on the season. Kelsey Cummings led Pinkerton with 8 service points, 25 digs and 8 kills. Taylor Ferdinando contributed 7 assists and 3 aces. Courtney Collins added 4 kills.
