DERRY — Adult Yoga for All fall sessions start soon.

Classes are held on Thursdays at the Alexander-Carr Park Lodge, 28 Pierce Ave.

The fee is $40 for residents, $60 for nonresidents. There’s a family rate of $25 for the second member of the same household.

Session I starts Sept. 13 and runs through Oct. 11. Classes are from 6 to 7:15 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Arrive at least five minutes before the class is scheduled to start.

Session II is Oct. 25-Nov. 29. Class days and times are the same as the first session.

Adult Yoga for All is a Hatha yoga program for adults at least 18 years old. Participants 16 and 17 years of age are also eligible to participate when registering with a parent or guardian.

Classes are designed to fit all ability and experience levels. Each session will consist of 75-minute classes.

Each class size requires a minimum of six participants, with a 15-person maximum. Students will be introduced to the health benefits of yoga through stretching exercises, breathing techniques, yoga postures, flow sequences and relaxation.

Participants are sure to increase flexibility, strength, balance and self-confidence, as well as reduce stress. Mariellen Rowe,a certified yoga teacher, leads the classes. Call the Recreation Office at 432-6136 or email Rowe at

Participants should bring a water bottle, yoga mat and blanket. Wear stretchy, comfortable clothing. Class will take place in bare feet.
